Indonesia’s Minister for State-owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, says the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA will soon open a cancer hospital in Bali.
Quoted by Balipost.com during a virtual online press conference held on Friday, 17 September 2021, Minister Thohir said: “Thanks be on to God that we are trusted by Mayo Clinic, the best cancer hospital in the world. Now we will work together, having been allowed to open a hospital with Mayo Clinic as our partner.”
The BUMN Minister said the plan for the new hospital would be realized after the COVID-19 pandemic passes. Thohir says an existing State-owned hospital in Bali will become the “holding hospital.” This hospital will also become one of the world’s best international centers for the treatment of COVID-19.

The BUMN Minister reminded any effort to create a “healthy Indonesian ecosystem” can only be accomplished if Indonesia achieves good levels of public health.
The Sanur area of Bali will be established as a Special Economic Zone (KEK), including the proposed international cancer hospital operated with an acknowledged world leader in cancer treatment.
The new Cancer Hospital will be located is now occupied by the Grand Inna Bali Beach Resort (GIBB) on Sanur Beach in a tourism zone covering 41.3 hectares.
